Current Topics
In typical physical systems, structure determines dynamics. For plastic systems, dynamics also determines structure. The interplay produces system behaviors that are selected by the environment to give rise to the functions of biological systems. Through computational modeling and statistical analysis of structural and dynamical data of the neural systems, we aim to uncover the mechanisms that underlying the cognitive functions of brains. Currently, the structural data includes confocal and X-ray imaging of flies and mice. While, the dynamic data includes in vivo electrophysiological recording and calcium imaging of live brains as well as in vitro recordings using multi-electrode array on neuron cultures, brain slice, and retina.
